SCOPE is an international
exchange program that brings together over 800 Canadian and American Scouts
and adults for an extended weekend of fun and friendship. The program has
its beginning in 1967 with Canada's Centennial celebrations and has
continued every four years since. Canadians visited the United States in 1967, as part of their celebration of Canada's Centennial Year.
The following year, members of the newly-created Baden-Powell District joined their Canadian hosts for an encampment of 1,750 men and boys at Woodbridge, Ontario, in Boyd Conservation Park.
SCOPE has continued in this
fashion every four years, with the next cycle being 2012/2013.
SCOPE is a unique scouting experience which will then enable our Scouts/Venturers/Rovers to become part of a Pennsylvania family and Scout Troop in May 2013, attending school and camping with their fellow Scouts/Venturers/Rovers. Each participant becomes a member of an American Scout Troop and family for the weekend. Lasting friendships have developed and all have a most rewarding experience.
SCOPE 2012 will be taking place at Goodyear Memorial Scout Camp, May 24-28, 2012 Cost is approximately $75.00 which includes your food, campsite and activities.
